Schola Sancti Pauli

The Schola Sancti Pauli, a mixed voice chamber choir (formerly the Cathedral Chamber Choir) was originally established at the cathedral to perform fund-raising concerts for Dean Terry Dance’s Wellness in Africa project.

Their role at St Paul’s widened along with their change of name and now includes performing the Office of Tenebrae in Holy Week, singing at the Stations of the Cross on Good Friday evening, celebrating the Feast of Saint Cecilia (November 22nd) and the cathedral’s Patronal Festival (January 25th).

Proceeds of concerts still generally go to support Bishop Terry’s Wellness in Africa project although other projects are supported on a performance by performance basis.

The repertoire of the Schola ranges from the baroque (Victoria Tenebrae Responsories) to the modern (Davies Magnificat & Nunc dimittis, Orbán Missa Quinta, Tucapsky Lenten Motets) and also includes secular music (English and Italian madrigals).

Schola Sancti Pauli are always happy to receive invitations to perform. To contact them, please email Andrew Keegan Mackriell at associateorganist@stpaulscathedral.on.ca.

Patrons of Cathedral Arts

In order to allow the maximum possible contribution to Wellness in Africa from the various Cathedral Arts Programme events, the Patrons of Cathedral Arts has been established to support the annual artistic programme.

For a contribution, which will be receipted for tax purposes, that will go to offset the expenses of the programme, Patrons will receive two tickets to each Schola concert and an invitation to each of the other events promoted by the Cathedral Arts Programme. Their name will also be listed in concert programme and other publicity material.

For more information about this project, please email cathedralarts@stpaulscathedral.on.ca.
