BENEFIT CONCERT SUPPORTS VICTIMS OF HUMAN TRAFFICKING IN THE LONDON AREA
St. Paul's Cathedral proudly presents Christmas with the London Jazz Orchestra, Tuesday, December 11, 2018 at 7:30 p.m.
Enjoy an evening of Christmas classics and modern hallmarks of the season with the award-winning London Jazz Orchestra, featuring vocalist and Jack FM morning-show host, Hilary Welch.
All proceeds from the concert will go to Farmtown Canada / Courage for Freedom. This non-profit organization provides support services for young victims of human trafficking, exploitation and abuse in our community. This charity offers a sanctuary for at-risk girls, providing safe housing and transportation, and helping them to build safe and trusting relationships.
Assisting young victims with the challenge of detoxing from behaviours and relationships takes time, and trauma care. Horse supports, fresh air and open spaces are a large part of the wellness process. Since 2007, the “horses that heal” skill-support programs have seen positive results in the lives of countless participants:
“You take the focus off of the girl, and you put it onto living in the moment, being well, being grounded, being mindful, and you can get rid of some of that PTSD immediately to do some work to help support her to self-direct her safety choices,”
says Farmtown Canada / Courage for Freedom founder Kelly Franklin. One young trafficking survivor said spending time with animals helped her feel safe and build trust. As a result, she’s now living at home again.
For the past five years, this charity has helped 75 to 150 girls each year. The funds raised from this wonderful concert will make a real difference in many local girls’ lives.
Tickets are $15 in advance, $20 at the door. Tickets are available online, here: https://tickets.londonfringe.ca, or by phoning St. Paul’s Cathedral at 519-434-3225.
We hope you’ll join us for this evening of fabulous Christmas music in support of a life-changing, local, non-profit organization.
