The 100th Anniversary of the Armistice
Sunday, November 11th, 2018
On November 11th the community at St. Paul's will be marking the 100th Anniversary of the Armistice, the end of World War I, during the course of the service of Holy Eucharist.
We are honoured to be welcoming a Trumpeter from The Windsor Regiment and a Piper from The Essex and Kent Scottish Regiment to our 10:00 am service. They will be playing the Last Post, the Lament-- a prayer on the bagpipes--and The Rouse during our time of remembrance at the start of the service.
The 10:00am service will conclude with the ringing of the Bishop's Bell, situated outside of Cronyn Hall. It will toll 11 times, for the 11 St. Paul's parishioners who made the ultimate sacrifice during World War I.
At sunset on this same day, the bell will again be rung--100 times to mark the 100th anniversary of the Armistice. This toll is in response to the world-wide request issued jointly by the British and German governments. Please join us to mark this occasion and remember those from our parish who gave their lives in service to our country.
