Singing for students
You do not have to be religious to join the Adult choir or Community Choir, nor do you need any previous experience in the church. We are a welcoming and inclusive church - we are not here to 'convert you' or make you confess - We are simply here to offer you opportunities to sing incredible music in a beautiful setting.
We have opportunities for you to sing in our choir, whether you are studying at Western, Fanshaw, or still in High School. You would be most welcome to audition for our choir and come experience the amazing repertoire and feeling that comes with serving our congregation with music.
Some basic proficiency in note-reading is important although not essential at this early stage. To enquire, please email st.pauls@stpaulscathedral.on.ca and we will get back to you to see how we can help!
Conducting Scholarships
September - April (or to July)
1 year tenure with potential for extension
We have begun to offer conducting scholarships for students interested in working with choirs. Scholarships are worth $1500 per year. In return, you will receive an hour 1-on-1 tuition with Laurence, the Director of Music each week and regular opportunities to conduct the choir. You will learn how choirs work, how to sing with a choir, and get to support the Director of Music directly, seeing first hand how to run a busy and vibrant music department. We are looking for anyone with a desire to work with singers with a kind and enthusiastic attitude. High School Scholarships
London is full of incredible high-school choirs - yet so often choirs don't get to experience the rich and incredible repertory of sacred music. We want to address that. If you are a high-school student, and want more singing opportunities, you would be very welcome in the adult choir.
You do not have to be religious to join the choir, nor do you need any previous experience in the church. We are a welcoming and inclusive church - we are not here to 'convert you' or make you confess - We are simply here to offer you opportunities to sing incredible music in a beautiful setting.
We don't charge to be in our choir, and if coming is difficult, we can offer some limited financial assistance. Please email st.pauls@stpaulscathedral.on.ca saying what you're interested in and we will get back to you to see how we can help!
