Laurence Williams is Director of Music at St. Paul’s Cathedral, where he leads the Cathedral’s choral program and brings music to life through organ, piano, and voice in the Cathedral’s beautifully renewed space.
Laurence is a deeply experienced conductor, organist, accompanist, singer, and educator, with a musical journey shaped by some of the world’s great choral traditions. As a chorister at Westminster Abbey and later Organ Scholar at St. George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle, he developed a lifelong love for choral excellence. He went on to study at Cambridge University, singing with the renowned Trinity College Choir, and later earned a Master’s degree in Voice and Conducting from the Guildhall School of Music & Drama.
Before moving to Canada, Laurence worked widely across the UK with choirs of all ages — from founding and leading children’s choirs and youth outreach programs to directing established choral societies and performing with internationally acclaimed ensembles. Throughout his career, he has been passionate about nurturing young voices, expanding access to music, and building vibrant musical communities.
At the heart of Laurence’s work is a simple belief: that music is for everyone. He is dedicated to helping people of all ages discover their voice, grow in confidence, and experience the joy, beauty, and depth of choral music within worship and beyond.
