The Venerable Sam Thomas is well known to the St. Paul’s community, having served as Interim Priest in the period prior to the arrival of our Dean. Recently retired as Archdeacon of Huron West and after twenty years as Rector of St. Michael and All Angels Church, Sam brings nearly four decades of ordained ministry to his role.
As Priest Associate and Director of Pastoral Care at St. Paul’s Cathedral, Sam supports the Rector in all aspects of parish life, with particular focus on pastoral care. His ministry includes liturgical leadership, preaching, formation, and the development of compassionate, responsive care for parishioners and the wider community.
Sam is deeply committed to healing ministries, care for the bereaved, outreach to long-term care residents and unhoused neighbours, and to fostering a cathedral community grounded in dignity, justice, and inclusion.
